And yet another great evening with PIL led by John Lydon. Apart from one minor incident, Lydon was in an exceptionally good mood, growling and booming with full conviction, and at times seeming genuinely moved. Lydon has just turned 70, but he still screams his lungs out now and then. Truly impressive.
And despite that, Lydon could be considered to be the (relatively) musical weak link. No shame in that as he was backed by a more than fantastic band. Tight, loud, and focused, the band worked its way from highlight to the next highlight.
One again the band’s musical diversity stood out, as well as the music’s danceability. The infectious grooves just kept on being served!
A perfect band, perfect sound, a perfect setlist, led by a charismatic frontman. What more could a person ask for?
