American country singer, songwriter and actor. He is primarily known for writing songs that turned into global hits for other artists, including Me And Bobby McGee, For The Good Times, Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down and Help Me Make It Through The Night. From 1985 to 1995 he was part of The Highwaymen, a country supergroup that also included Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Johnny Cash. As an actor he performed in movies like Pat Garrett And Billy The Kid and Convoy. His best-known role was in A Star Is Born. In 2004 he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014
