Introduction
On May 6, 2025, André 3000 appeared on the red carpet at the yearly Met Gala. The night’s theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style. André 3000 took it extremely seriously and wore a suit with a piano attached to it. Success guaranteed.

Just before his appearance on the red carpet André 3000 announced the immediate release of a new EP called 7 piano sketches and opened a shopping section in his online store for physical copies and merchandise.

Review
This will not be an EP I will play many times. It lasts just over 16 minutes and contains 7 pieces of music, each announced by several characters. The first 5 songs contain only piano and the last two contain other instruments and/or sounds, like laughter, keyboards/synthesizers and a drum machine.
The compositions are fairly simple and have little variation. The thought behind it is fun though, and I admire the way in which André 3000 fills in his own career path and isn’t hindered by expectations from record companies or audiences. Where this attitude led to some moving music on New Blue Sun, it unfortunately lacks here.

Amsterdam flyers
Four days before the announcement of the new EP a flyer campaign in Amsterdam received some attention. After some inquiry the campaign turned out to be legitimate. André 3000 lost a blue book in Amsterdam, maybe containing lyrics (?). The poster mentions a website founded for the return of the book. The site offers a (pdf) download of the poster, which is placed in the download folder under the name Where_is_my_notebook_This_is_real!_Andre_3000_Thanks_for_sharing.pdf.
