When it was announced that Neil Young was coming to Europe again, I wanted to go (of course). But, just like last time, he played on a day I already had tickets to another show for. So, what’s the backup plan? The Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium.
After a great day in the city off to the venue where Neil Young kicked off a little after 9 PM with a beautiful Mansion On The HilI. At first the sound was a bit muffled and the show was not easy to follow. But from When You Dance, I Can Really Love and onward it was magnificent. I had never heard Young play a song off his fantastic album On The Beach. Tonight he played its title song: phenomenal!
The acoustic set went from highlight to highlight: Unknown Legend, From Hank To Hendrix, Old Man, Are You Ready For The Country? and Long May You Run. Immediately followed by a furious F*!#in’ Up.
Young was in a great mood and he was clearly having fun during his many (and long) guitar solo’s. Once again a great Neil Young concert.
