American jazz bass player, composer, bandleader, pianist and writer. Regarded as one of the greatest composers in the history of jazz. In 1993 the American Library of Congress acquired Mingus’s complete administration, including sheet music, correspondence and photos and called it “the most important acquisition of a manuscript collection relating to jazz in the Library’s history”
