∞ | American singer, dancer, actess and writer. In 1960 she took on the name Tina Turner as part of Ike & Tina Turner, which was soon called “one of the most formidable live acts in history”. Hits like River Deep – Mountain High, Proud Mary and Nutbush City Limits turned Ike & Tina into superstars. In 1976 Tina left Ike Turner, following, as turned out later, years of surviving an extremely violent relationship. She started a solo career that would propel her to the top of the charts from 1984 and onwards. She would never slide back into oblivion. Tina Turner has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, as part of Ike & Tina Turner and as a solo artist. In 1993 the movie What’s Love Got To Do With It was released, which was based on her autobiography I, Tina: My Life Story, the emotional tale of her life |
