American rock ‘n’ roll composer and musician who was lead singer for Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers (which had evolved from the band Mudcrutch). Petty also released a number of solo albums using his own name. Late 1980s he was part of the Traveling Wilburys with George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison. In 2002 Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
