Rating
An unforgettable night in Amsterdam. I hadn’t imagined that I would ever end up in a re-run of Cheap Trick’s At Budokan. The screams from the audience were truly deafening, the enthusiasm at times hysterical, yet highly entertaining.
Billie Eilish undergoes it all, but enjoys it thouroughly. Sound and lighting are fine, with just one downside, Eilish’s (beuatiful) voice too often drowns in the mix and is overruled by the sheer volume of the crowd in the venue, where literally everyone seems to know the words to every song (except for the new song TV).
The setlist was superbly built up, ensuring highlight after highlight. In this live setting the songs sound heavier when compared to their studio versions and the band (consisting of Eilish’s brother and a drummer) accentuated just the right things. The show had an enormous speed and was interrupted 3 times by Eilish talking to her audience.
Final conclusion: I’m genuinely happy I got to see Billie Eilish live, together with my eldest son by the way (!), and will definitely go again the next time she visits The Netherlands.
