Rating

The start of the show was almost magical, with Dev Hynes alias Blood Orange, playing a number of songs on his own, during which the band members started appearing on the stage one by one, followed by a brief, but intense, cover of The Smiths’ How Soon Is Now?. After the opening the show unfortunately deflated a bit. The music of the albums/records was delivered without a bit of extra energy (the sound quality didn’t help), making the performances somewhat clean. Luckily there were enough moments (Jesus Freak Lighter, Charcoal Baby) that made the show worthwhile. And, to be fair, Blood Orange’s music is absolutely beautiful, intimate and moving.
Special shout-out to the audience. Blood Orange tore the place down. People were dancing, singing and shouting all over the place. They made the party.
