Rating
Great show by Ibrahim Maalouf, who came by to play his new project The Trumpets Of Michel Ange. The new music was presented for the very first time and had no regular titles yet. Two intensely beautiful highlights. The piece that’s likely to be called Timeless was exciting, swinging, hard and soft all at the same time. An unbelievable piece of music, I can’t wait to hear it on the upcoming album. The other composition was a soothing piece of music that was written to ease the pain of the inevitable goodbye between parents and their childen. It was dedicated to the children of Gaza and was profoundly moving. Not a dry eye in the house, a truly magical tribute to the victims of the pointless and immoral violence of the current war.
And, it was a party as well. The fancy Concertgebouw shook at its core and Maalouf and his band got the entire audience on their feet and even jumping. Unforgettable evening.
Setlist
Because the music stems from an album that has yet to be recorded and released, just two titles: Timeless and Stranger.
