American singer, producer and composer. After forming his own backing band, The Stone City Band, he finally gained the success he had been hoping for for so long and started his (solo) career at Motown. He mixed funk, rock, disco and new wave. He discovered singer Teena Marie and founded the Mary Jane Girls, for whom he wrote and produced multiple albums
