The second show I witnessed from The Wild God Tour. On September 26 I was at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam and saw Nick Cave conquer the audience with a truly great show. That night was just perfect, so how was Cave going to top that one? Simple: just travel to Belgium, fucking Belgium, as he called it several times.
From the moment he stepped up on the stage Cave seemed taunted. His surrender was complete, the connection with the audience profound and the band gave it their all. Cave screamed, growled and sang better than ever before. The concert in the Ziggo Dome was downgraded to a mere rehearsal, albeit it a great one. No surprises on the songs front, but the performances were intense, lived through, moving and plain spectacular. The joy erupted from the stage. I will not name any highlights, just see the setlist.
Addition November 5, 2024:
In #303 of the Red Hand Files Nick Cave was asked about Antwerp and the shows he played there. The start of his reply was: “The three days I spent in Antwerp were very special. It is a city I have grown to love very much. The Bad Seeds performed two concerts, perhaps the best we’ve done.”
