American singer, writer and pianist. When she signed with Atlantic Records in 1966, success finally arrived with a seemingly endless list of soul classics, including I Never Loved A Man (The Way I Love You), Respect, (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman, Chain Of Fools and Think. Up until 1976 she released classic album after classic album. After playing a part in the Blues Brothers her success returned in the early 1980s. Franklin won no less than 18 Grammy Awards and she received the National Medal of Arts and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 1987 she was the first female artist to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
