After a 10 day break in the tour and a visit to Peter Gabriel’s tour in Cologne the day before, Bruce Springsteen takes the stage at 07:30 PM. His voice sufferered from the break and, especially during the first songs, he’s unable to hit several higher notes. Fortunately, his voice recovers during the concert. Unfortunately, the venue has a festival vibe to it (the Pinkpop festival is scheduled to take place one week later), perfecting the circumstances for the “Dutch disease”. It seems everybody and their mother is talking, calling and celebrating private reunions, reducing Springsteen to nothing more than background music instead of the main reason for being there in the first place.
Besides that: Springsteen ultimately wins over everyone, reaping his reward for all of his hard work. Limburg too falls at the feet of Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band!
